It is a story that also highlights the deep faith that these two heroes have in Allison even when their future with her is in question. Ms Brooke has also brought in familiar "friends" from the preceding novels in this series so there is the sense of getting re-acquainted with old friends. Now Erin has three husbands and she is understandably drawn to Allison and her questions about polyamorous marriages. Allison is reminiscent of Erin and her deep doubt about the nature of life in Desire and whether or not it can work. It is a story of two friends who are seeminly very different in many aspects of their personalities, but who are each enhanced by their friendship as well as their mutual desire for a future with a woman who will fulfill their lives and be their life-long companion and lover.
While Ms Brooke manages to keep the crisis alive in all her books, there is the added tension in this one of a whole lot of trouble caused by the abuse and lies of the heroine's ex-boyfriend-a young man who wants to live as he chooses without regard to anhyone else in his life and whose selfish ways have cause not only emotional and psychological injury to Allison Bennett, but serious physical injury as well. But fate, and her ex-boyfriend, have other plans.Īnother "home run" of a novel from an author that just keeps her readers delighted with one after another of these Desire, OK stories. Knowing a menage relationship could never work, she still finds herself tempted to stay.
