The reality is that Peace Talks and Battle Ground are really one book that got too long for the publisher and so it got split. A stellar performance and one of my favorite narrators. After a longer than usual gap Harry Dresden returned this year in not one, but two, books.

Over the series we see him grow as a narrator as the industry grows right along with him. James Marsters is the voice of Harry and the other characters. His loyalty to family and belief in the good of others may yet get him killed, but I wouldn’t want him to change.įair warning this ends of a cliff and I am already counting down the days until Battle Ground. He can see more of the big picture and it changes his perspective. Harry continues to grow as a character, especially now that he is a father. We deal with some pretty intense battle scenes before Butcher sends us off to deal with the fairy courts. It brought back memories from previous books and hinted at things to come. We battle the creepy Outsiders who are moving in to fill the void left by the Red Court. I enjoy how Butcher weaves in humor while placing our characters in peril. Butcher has developed his secondary characters and they have become just as important to me as Harry himself.īutters and Murphy continue to be favorites, and Bonnie was a hoot. We even spend some interesting time with Murphy and The Vampire Queen. We see Molly, Butters, Mave, and have to deal with Dresden’s grandfather. People aren’t happy with Dresden or his position on the council. A supernatural conclave is gathering in Chicago to discuss threats from the Outsiders and to form an accord against power struggles. LOLĪ vacuum of power developed after the vanquishing of the red court. Dresden believes they are safe… that is until something happens with his brother and all hell breaks loose.

They have apartments within the Svartalves compound. Bonea nicknamed Bonnie along with Mouse and Mister the cat are residing with them.

Dresden is living with Maggie, his daughter. Butcher did not disappoint as he weaved his magic.Ībout three months have passed since the last story ended. Like most of his fandom, Peace Talks by Jim Butcher was one of my most anticipated releases for 2020.

The Dresden Files are a favorite here at Caffeinated, and in the past two years I’ve devoured the audiobooks.
