They are very clearly intimidated by the introduction of this new technology. In turn, Egypt is overwhelmed and surrenders. At one point in the story, the Hyksos invaded Egypt equipped with horses, chariots, and bows which worked easily to defeat the Egyptians, driving them out. The plot of the book is well constructed despite the fact that it feels as though it goes beyond the bounds of a story.Įgypt, at this particular time, is considered to be the most “civilized” and “advanced” nation in the world even though they are still behind in terms of technology and insist on the worship of the Egyptian gods and goddesses.
This is where things start to get interesting as we see the characters desperately trying to cover this up as it would devastating to all involved if this information was leaked. She later gives birth to a son and the pharaoh is not the father. Lostris becomes the first of Pharaohs’ wives. Watch out for the author’s misleading “Note” at the end.It also focuses a great deal on the forbidden love between Taita and Lostris. If you love Egyptian adventures, stop everything and read this.
In a nutshell, WS has overall laid out a great Egyptian adventure revolving around the life at the banks of Nile. If this isn’t weird and cheesy, I don’t know what is. “ By Seth’s unwiped backside!” laughed Kratas. The book is a great read though it tends to get slightly cheesy in certain parts, especially the conversations. He’s smart, witty, spontaneous and what not. But it would also be a lie if I were to say I didn’t enjoy the character of Taita.
He just about has the ability to do anything.
It would be a lie if I were to say I didn’t feel the abilities of Taita were an overkill. Each character is given their own space to develop into beings of interest and then there’s Taita. The first chapter had actually failed to instill the interest it was otherwise supposed to build up in me and I grew skeptic, though my skepticism didn’t last for long and I was slowly dragged into the lives of the characters. Taita, the slave, is the central character who drives the story, which is narrated through his POV.
